Let's get off topic today. Twitter is suppose to be a communication tool and it can be also be a microblogging forum but it's not working. Say what is on your mind in less than 140 characters. If you want to send a message to all your friends at once, you can do that Tweet "let's all meet up at the pool hall at 8pm" and some of your buddies show up, that kind of thing.

Or you can promote your business, website, cause, blog whatever and people who like your stuff will eventually follow you (in theory). I do that myself or you might not be reading this.

But Twitter is not working like that. Everyone goes on Twitter and are tweeting boring stuff, or they are selling stuff, or worse they are sending good tweets and no one is listening. Everyone on Twitter is talking garbage, even shouting at each other and very few are paying attention.

I have yet to make any friends on Twitter out of my 2,000 followers because it takes a back and forth conversation to make friends and I have yet to receive an interesting direct message that was not trying to sell me something.

No wonder there are millions of dead accounts on Twitter because people try it out and find nobody is listening to them. It plain crazy, people are saying what's on their mind and millions show their indifference by ignoring the message which is drowned out in the noise of millions of other tweets.

What is even nuttier is I think some people don't even care if they are talking to themselves, they just need a place to vent, rant or put down their thoughts. Who writes in a paper journal these days? So what do you think? Is Twitter broken ? Should we leave Twitter for the nuts and spammers & let them continue to talk to themselves?
