FAQ as answered by Barnes & Noble
Q. How does Nook work?
nook lets you access over one million eBooks, eNewspapers, and eMagazines in two different ways, depending on where you are. It uses the same 3G wireless technology that your cell phone uses. But it also automatically detects Wi-Fi hotspots -- either the free Wi-Fi in all Barnes & Noble stores or any pre-configured hotspots -- and will switch to use Wi-Fi's faster connection. With either connection, you'll be able to download eBooks wirelessly in seconds.
Q. Is Nook for me?
If you can use a cell phone, you can use nook. With color touchscreen controls similar to iPhones and other smartphones, easy-to-read E Ink® display, and gorgeous design interface, opening your eBooks on nook is as easy as tapping a screen.
Shopping on nook is easy, too. Just tap on "Shop" and you'll enter the Barnes & Noble eBookstore with thousands of free titles and bestsellers for as little as $9.99.
And if you want to share your purchases, our new LendMe™ technology lets you loan your eBooks to friends. All you need is their email address.
Oh, there is one big difference between nook and your cell phone. If something happens to your nook, a copy of all your eBook purchases will be available for you to download as many times as you like from your online eBook Library.

The state-of-the-art E Ink® Vizplex™ Electronic Paper Display used in nook reads like a printed page, by reflected light. This provides a more natural reading experience and is easier on the eyes.
