Can I read in the dark with the Cybook?
No. The Cybook screen is not backlit. As a sheet of paper the Cybook E Ink® screen uses ambient light to enlighten the reading surface. Your Cybook is thus readable in full sunlight which is not the case for almost all standard LCD displays.
How to install a new font on the Cybook?
Connect your Cybook to your computer via the USB cable. Drag and drop (copy) your TrueType font file in the "Font" folder of the Cybook internal memory. You will then be able to choose it in the "Font Family" submenu.
Which music formats are supported on the Cybook?
MP3 is supported with no DRM.
Can additional software or programs be installed on the Cybook?
No, additional software or programs cannot be installed on the Reader.
What happens when the batteries are completely discharged?
Nothing. Your data have been kept in persistent internal storage memory or SD card. You just can't use your Cybook anymore until you put your Cybook on charge.
Can I synchronize my Cybook with my computer as I do with my PDA?
Yes and no. Yes, you can synchronise some data between your Cybook and your computer (only PC*) using the MobipocketTM software: Mobipocket Desktop reader (you can download it for free from Mobipocket website).
This software synchronise the books you bought from the different online libraries and the eNews and RSS you subscribed to. No, the Cybook is not a PDA, no calendar, contact or task information can be synchronized with your Cybook.
*The Mobipocket Desktop Reader is not available for Mac and Linux. On these machines, the Cybook is seen as a simple external storage drive and the Mobipocket files must be transferred manually.
Is there a touchscreen or a stylus on the Cybook?
No. There is no touchscreen and no stylus on the Cybook. You control the Cybook with its buttons.
How many books can I store in my Cybook?
You can store your books either in the internal memory of the Cybook or in an extra optional memory card.
The internal storage capacity is made of 64 MB (Mega Bytes) of persistent memory. It represents 300 standard books in Mobipocket, HTML or Text format.
You can increase your storage capacity by using an optional memory card and get an extra storage space until 2 GB (2 Giga Bytes = 2 048 Mega Bytes). It represents 10 000 standard books in Mobipocket, HTML or Text format.
Can I read on the Cybook for a long time? The Cybook screen is viewable under a wide range of lighting conditions, including direct sunlight and possesses a paper-like high contrast appearance. Like a sheet of paper, it can be viewed from nearly any angle, doesn't show any flicker effect and has a high resolution. When you read, you have no eyestrain and it definitely gives you the experience of reading from paper.
Can I listen to music with my Cybook?
